Rising damp occurs when groundwater travels upwards through the pores and capillaries in masonry walls. It is most common in older properties built without a damp proof course (DPC), or where the original DPC has failed or been bridged.

How We Treat Basement Waterproofing

We design bespoke waterproofing systems to BS 8102 standards. For most residential basements we install a Type C cavity drain membrane system — a studded membrane fixed to walls and floor that channels water to a sump and pump unit for automatic discharge. Where appropriate we also apply cementitious tanking or structural waterproofing. All systems are designed by our qualified surveyors and installed by our in-house team.

What Is It?

Understanding Rot Treatment

Timber rot is caused by fungal decay that breaks down the structure of wood. There are two main types — dry rot (Serpula lacrymans) and wet rot. Dry rot is the more serious of the two, capable of spreading through masonry and across large areas. Wet rot is more localised but still causes significant structural damage if not treated promptly.

What Is It?

Understanding Woodworm Treatment

Woodworm is the collective term for the larvae of wood-boring beetles. The most common species in the UK is the Common Furniture Beetle (Anobium punctatum), though Death Watch Beetle and House Longhorn Beetle can also be found. The larvae bore through timber for several years before emerging as adult beetles, leaving the characteristic small round exit holes.
